Automation of research activities and creation of tools supporting forensic expert’s work is still a problem that is not fully solved.
Polish Forensic Association conducts various research aiming to create such computer tools which would be useful in those areas of forensics, where these kinds of solutions have never been used before – mostly in document examination, including handwriting and signatures.
In 2009 – as part of the development project of the National Research and Development Centre (NCBiR), conducted jointly with the University of Warsaw – PTK experts began to work on a research project “Scientific description of the methodology & programs and constructing a station for signatures identification research using computer graphometry”. It was completed two years later with a creation of a computer graphometry program GLOBALGRAF.
The package includes the following programs: GRAFOTYP, RAYGRAF, KINEGRAM, SCANGRAF.
GLOBALGRAF received a positive evaluation of the National Centre for Research and Development as an important factor objectifying the identification process of handwriting.

In 2015 Polish Forensic Association presented another program that facilitates the work
of document expert.
The EDYTOR program is designed to extract the graphic line of text when the text background (signature background) contains unnecessary elements, hindering the examination of the text and interpretation of results. An important advantage of the program is its ease of use. User has access to seven types of transformation by which, in most cases, one may get a “clean” graphic line on a homogeneous background of any colour.
