Polish Forensic Association carries out research in the field of criminology directly itself or through the Criminalistics Institute using the grant from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

In 2007, a research project called “Research methodology and construction of complex stationary and mobile stations for the forensic examination of documents” carried out jointly with the company TOP ARH was completed.

In 2009, Research and Training Centre (now the Institute of Criminalistics) of Polish Forensic Association together with Warsaw University started a development project called “Scientific description of the methodology & programs and constructing a station for signatures identification research using computer graphometry”. It was completed two years later and resulted in creating a package of computer programs GLOBALGRAF supporting handwriting analysis and research.

In 2011, in cooperation with the University of Warsaw another research and development project was launched – “Scientific description of the methodology and constructing a station for research of chronology of recordings made with different techniques and methods that fade on a paper”. This project was completed in 2012 and one its results was developing a method of chronology research of disjointed records, which is especially useful for the assessment of the documents signed in blanco.

In December 2013, another to project called “Measuring tools supporting the analysis of handwriting and signatures” has begun. The aim of the project is to create new computer programs to analyse handwriting (GLOBALGRAF II). This is a continuation of previous work in this field. Completion of the project has been foreseen for December 2016.
